Spot pulse measurements are often taken at the wrist.
Smartwatches measure with reflected light, i.e. not electrically but optically. A pulse wave is detected that has no peak and changes depending on the movement and posture of the arm. So you can measure average pulse values but you can’t get raw data for heart rate variability (HRV).

We perform HRV measurements in the immediate vicinity of the heart via detection of the R-waves in the ECG – 1000 times per second!
Raw data for heart rate variability (HRV) can only be obtained using an ECG with an appropriate sampling rate. HRV is considered the key technology for health management of the future.

Measuring time

The shorter the measurement, the more vague the statements made. A 3-minute measurement with optical sensor is contrary to the guidelines of the Task Force of the European Society of Cardiology and the North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology.

Everyday suitability

Measurements from one provider provide usable data while you sleep. However, since measurements are made optically, the device and software are neither intended nor suitable for tracking in everyday life.
An ECG-accurate measurement with a watch on the wrist is only possible at rest and when you hold a finger on the crown. Thus 24/7 HRV monitoring is not possible.

Our measuring devices can be used reliably in any everyday situation (incl. showering, swimming, sauna, etc.).
We use HRV devices or chest belts, which are firmly connected with electrodes to the upper body of the person being measured. These provide measurements suitable for everyday use with clean results.
